Course Details

World Aquatics Swimming Instructor provides candidates with essential competencies to teach swimming and water safety in swimming pools and confined natural shallow water venues. The course utilises the units of competence:

  • SRC AQU 008B Apply the Principles of Movement in Water to Aquatic Activities
  • SRC AQU 009B Instruct Water Familiarisation, Buoyancy and Mobility Skills
  • SRC AQU 010B Instruct Water Safety and Survival Skills
  • SRC AQU 011B Instruct the Strokes of Swimming
  • SRC CRO 007B Operate in Accordance with Accepted Instructional Practices, Styles and Legal and Ethical Responsibilities
  • SRC AQU 003B Respond to an Aquatic Emergency Using Basic Water Rescue Techniques

This course has 5 face to face hours and other components will be completed with a workbook and on the job instruction. Topics include:

  • Best practice in the Aquatics industry
  • Skill acquisition

  • Drills, activities and games
  • Communication skills
  • Program planning
  • Aquatic Safety
  • Movement in Water
  • Principles of buoyancy and mobility

$232.00

Duration:

5 hours face to face plus workbook & on the job instruction.

Assessment:

Practical assessments and an on-the-job workbook, NO written exams.

Verifcation Validity

3 Years. Re-registration is available for a minimal fee for a further 3 years.

Course Accreditation

The course is nationally recognised and meets all AQTF requirements.
Candidates can complete the course at 16 years of age.
Candidates cannot be employed until they have received their certificate.
